More Than a Basic Battery Unlocker
DT18V does more than simply report whether a battery is locked.
It reads available battery data, checks the condition of the individual
cell groups and helps identify possible faults before a supported unlock
operation is performed.

Intelligent Repair Guidance
When abnormal voltage, excessive cell imbalance, invalid battery data or a
possible physical connection fault is detected, DT18V can recommend inspection,
balancing, repair or further testing before unlocking.
Repair and Retain the Original BMS
DT18V is designed to assist with diagnosing, repairing and unlocking the
original compatible battery BMS after the physical battery fault has been
correctly repaired. Replacing the original BMS with a third-party board
does not automatically need to be the first repair option.
Verify the Unlock Result
After a supported repair or unlock operation, DT18V reads the battery again
and verifies whether the operation was completed successfully.

- Connect a compatible Makita 18V battery.

- Inspect, repair or balance the battery where required.
- Perform Smart Unlock when the battery condition is suitable.
- Reconnect the battery to the charger and verify normal operation.

Intelligent Battery Diagnostics
DT18V analyses the available battery data and can help identify conditions such as:
- Excessive voltage difference between cell groups
- Abnormally low or high individual cell-group voltage
- Possible broken nickel strips or internal battery connections
- Possible voltage-sampling circuit faults
- Internal battery data or checksum abnormalities
- Invalid or unsupported battery information
- BMS locked, unlocked or communication-failure status
Smart Unlock Protection:
When an unsafe or unresolved condition is detected, DT18V may recommend
inspection, cell balancing, physical repair or further testing before an
unlock operation is performed.
Standalone OLED and WiFi Operation
Built-In 1.3-Inch OLED Interface
Operate DT18V directly using the built-in OLED display and rotary control.
No Windows software, drivers, programming cable or permanent computer
connection is required for normal operation.
WiFi Web Interface
Connect a phone, tablet or computer to the DT18V WiFi interface to view
detailed battery information using a standard web browser.
No mobile app installation is required.
Dual-Power Safety Switch

Battery Mode – Switch OFF:
DT18V is powered directly by the connected compatible Makita battery.

USB-C Mode – Switch ON:
DT18V is powered by an external 5V USB-C supply for diagnosis and testing.
Charge-Path Fault Indication:
If a connected battery cannot power DT18V in Battery Mode, but the device
operates normally from USB-C, this strongly indicates an open charging fuse
or charging power path inside the battery.
Firmware Update Support
Eligible firmware updates for DT18V are provided at no additional charge
while the product remains supported. Updates may improve battery compatibility,
diagnostic rules, fault detection, interface functions and overall reliability.

- A broken nickel strip or internal connection has been repaired
- Battery-pack voltage has been restored
- The original BMS remains locked after physical repairs

Compatible Battery Models
Battery information can be read from many compatible Makita 18V LXT battery
models, including:
BL1820 · BL1830 · BL1840 · BL1850 · BL1860
BL1820B · BL1830B · BL1840B · BL1850B · BL1860B
Available functions depend on the battery generation, BMS type, internal
firmware and battery condition. Compatible newer B-series batteries generally
provide the most complete diagnostic and unlock functionality.
Some older battery models may allow battery information to be read but may not
support BMS data repair or unlocking. Third-party and non-original batteries
may use different communication protocols and may not be supported.

Important Notice
DT18V is an electronic diagnostic and BMS data repair tool.
It does not physically repair damaged cells, broken nickel strips,
blown fuses, failed sensors, damaged wiring or failed circuit boards.
Physical battery faults must be correctly diagnosed and repaired before a
supported unlock operation is attempted. Not every faulty battery can be restored.
Lithium battery repair should only be carried out by people with appropriate
knowledge, equipment and safety procedures.
